Have you ever wondered why people sometimes misinterpret your actions? In a situation where you feel you are exhibiting boldness, someone is saying you are arrogant. For someone else, he or she is taking time to analyze a situation before taking action, the person is termed as too slow.
Where are all these coming from?
Well, sometimes it is about understanding personality types. When it comes to relationship, ignorance of how this works create such huge mess between partners. Personalities that supposed to complement and strengthen one another are used against each other. Partners tend to focus on areas of weakness alone without looking closely to the strength. Meanwhile, looking at those strength can reveal the need to leverage on it because sometimes, it is where you have weaknesses.
There is no one without weakness. We are all not perfect being. Anyone claiming a state of perfection is only refusing to admit the truth.
Tell yourself that you will see the big picture. The big picture in this context is the outcome of leveraging on each other’s strength. Although the process of leveraging will place the need to be humble enough to let go of some habits and thereafter pick up new ones. Achieving this will require you to be deliberate about it.
Celebrate each other’s uniqueness. You need each other’s uniqueness to make your relationship unique. Don’t ever work at making your relationship exactly like another person’s own. There could be some similarities in terms of values and principles, but there will always be differences because of the difference in your past experiences. When you attempt to compare and use it as the basis for judgement, you will only succeed at frustrating yourself and your partner.
Therefore, celebrate each other’s uniqueness and be ready to learn from each other. Trust me, it will make you better and not bitter if you are open enough to make the necessary adjustments it demands from you.
