These two words play a critical role in almost everything we do in life.
While reality shows the actual picture, perception shows individual interpretation of the actual picture.
Interpretation varies from person to person because of life experiences, beliefs, values and memories.
For instance, what appeared as number “6” to someone might be seen as inverted “6”, turning it into “9” for another person.
The question is;
Who is right between the two parties?
……..the two of them are right as long as they see the numbers from their individual angles.
In a similar vein, when you stand in front or side of a building, the pattern you see from the front view will obviously be different from the side view.
Does that mean they are different buildings?
If you don’t see the outlook of the complete building, you will find it difficult to believe that the front view is only a part of the building, not the entire building as some people might take as reality.
How then can we deal with this?
Openness. The need to be humble and sincere that you cannot see or understand everything about life itself.
Empathy. The need to see things from the other person’s point of view. When you put the piece from your view with the other person’s view together, it becomes clearer to you like solving a puzzle.
Flexibility. The need to have a fluid mind in order to entertain new or opposing views or ideas.
It is therefore right to say that perception might not necessarily be the reality because of the filters through which people view things in life. However, perception, “IF” not handled well can create problems among people.
When you bring this understanding to the workings of relationship(single or married), business, organizational setting etc., it will become clearer why some fail and some succeed.
Therefore, there is more to life than you can possibly comprehend. Do not be rigid in your mind . Always be open to unlearn in order to relearn things in life.
Work at closing the gap between your perception and the reality surrounding you in all areas.
The closer the gap, the more likely success will happen
